Social CommitmentAs part of our commitment in the world we seek to be a good neighbour in the community, challenge injustice and use our resourses to support those less able than ourselves, hence we activily support the work of Christian Aid and Fairtrade. Victoria Park is a Fairtrade Church and seeks to use Fairtrade products wherever possible .
Because we believe in strengthening people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, we support local organisations, which are best placed to understand local needs. We also give help on the ground through 16 overseas offices. We strive for a new world transformed by an end to poverty and we campaign to change the rules that keep people poor. The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal. For a product to display the FAIRTRADE Mark it must meet international Fairtrade standards. These standards are set by the international certification body Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO). Producer organisations that supply Fairtrade products are inspected and certified by FLO. They receive a minimum price that covers the cost of sustainable production and an extra premium that is invested in social or economic development projects.
